Genesis 98-3(R)

Genesis 98-3(R), 1998
39" x 24": casein and acrylic on rice paper
Private collection

This work began with casein on wet stretched rice paper. That first level is still partially visible as the blue-green outer halo and in the lower dark area. It was then completed in acrylic.

This work can be interpreted on least three levels. On the microscopic level of organic cells, there is both a nucleus and the remaining cellular structure. On the macroscopic level of astronomical phenomena, there is a black hole and an edge-on galaxy. On the philosophical level, it is a visual metaphor of the paradox of simultaneously coexisting realities, in contrast to believed dualities.
