Between 1969 and 1971, I worked on a suite of 12 microdrawings using a crow quill and india ink on Strathmore paper. I tried to focus upon entering the worlds of microbiology, particle physics, and astrophysics through the drawing medium. This journey was a process of discovering a visual vocabulary to reveal the new landscape of art and science, as stated in the title of a 1956 book by Gyorgy Kepes.
It was after I completed the series that I spent the summer of 1971 with Dr. Roman Vishniac in New York City experiencing his interpretation of the art and science universe through photomicroscopy.
